Watch your fingers

Well, I've been busy, and I guess that Victoria and Pierre have been too. I went out of town for a business trip and when I came back Pierre was in the nest box. I didn't get a chance yet to check and see how many eggs that they have now. Both Victoria and Pierre are defending their nest box so I have to watch where I put my hands. Victoria has bitten me (not hard) twice in less than 24hrs that I've been home. Pierre makes a big stink and hisses but doesn't actually bite me. I don't want to get that close though. Victoria will actually come and "attack" me.

I've been suprised that they havn't been eating as much lettuce and vegatables as they did last year, but at this point, they aren't feeding babies yet so that might be part of it.

New Eggs have arrived

Well, it's another year and it's that time of the year again. Parents Victoria and Pierre have laid another egg. It was laid sometime on Wednesday April 21st. We didn't have a nestbox and I got home so late the stores were closed so we improvised that evening with a small box, which they seemed to accept. The next evening (April 22) we put a regular 12"x12" nest box in the cage and the morning of the 23rd they went into it and checked on their egg.

I'm going to try and document this better than last time, now that I've been thru this before. Should be fun, exciting and interesting.
